| First came le Monot: It all began in 1997, when four friends decided to give revival to Monot street that was located next to the green line between East and West Beirut.This neighborhood, where no one would have ventured to invest a penny, had a unique charm with its architecture that went back to the french Mandate. The four friends decided to launch their first restaurant in that area: the French bistrot called "Le Monot" which came was an immediate success and one of the catalysts in the rehabilitation of Monot street.
Then Duo: Le Monot was soon followed by the "Ciao", an Italian restaurant in the same neighborhood, that also witnessed a huge success. Few years later, the Ghia partners decided to take their ambitions to a different direction. While the "Le Monot" and "le Ciao" still exuberantly animated, they were transported to the Beirut Central District, after being merged under a unique name.That's when "Duo" the subtle blend between the two previous Monot street restaurants was born in Maarad street. Meanwhile, Abdel Wahab: Meanwhile,Ghia established the Abdel Wahab restaurant,which soon became the Group's core brand with a potential for expansion. in 2001, Le 5 was introduced as a French cuisine restaurant in a cosmopolitan environment. Followed by Al Bakawat: 2002 highlighted the opening of "Al Bakawat café"serving authentic Lebanese cuisine and home-made dishes accompanied by the sound of Ooud. "Shah"brought a new idea: Recognizing a new niche within the nightlife market, Ghia launched in 2003 a new concept, the "Shah", a late night restaurant whose Tuesday's karaoke nights and weekend evenings are incessantly bustling with people. Success brought new opportunities: The international expansion of our activities came as the natural outcome of our success. In 2003, Ghia's know - how was solicited by Arab entrepreneurs to help them set up a restaurant or franchise operation in their country; Ghia's embraced this new challenge which resulted in the opening of "3 Abdel Wahab franchises" respectively in Amman, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (see brochure) and Kuwait city, as well as "Al Saraya" restaurant in Lybia. Poised for future growth Today, the Ghia group is proud to introduce its newest concept in Beirut, El Paladar, a Cuban restaurant offering South-American dishes. At the same time, the Group continues to grow abroad through new franchise openings. |
