Ciao

The second milestone was "Ciao", an italian restaurant located in Monot area as well. In 1997, a market study revealed that Lebanese people were highly attracted to Italian food:
the common Mediterranean culture, but also the healthy cuisine and subtile taste seduced a very large portion of Lebanese people. Monot street was becoming slowly but surely a very trendy street, vibrant with night-life, pubs, ..... and started to attract people from all age brackets.

Ciao had a very typical decoration that evoked Italy's colors. It had also a rustic touch since it was one of the first restaurants which had the pizza's special wood oven. Thanks to the Italian chef, "Ciao" cuisine was reputed for its fresh pasta della casa, its antipasti bar, an innovation in Italian restaurants in Beirut, and just as for "Le Monot", a very interesting quality to price ratio. In that case also, "Ciao" became the talk of the town.
The year 2001 represents a turning point for Monot street. As innumerable pubs saw the light, breaking the world record for the "number of pubs in one street", the heart of restaurants industry was being relocated in down-town Beirut. Ghia decided to close both
"Le Monot" and "Ciao" and reopen them under a new concept in Beirut Central District.
